From Father Michael's Desk
Statement of Bishop Michael Fisher on the death of Pope Francis
With heavy hearts and profound gratitude, we commend to our loving and one true God the soul of Pope Francis, the good and faithful “Servant of Servants” who guided our Universal Church and the Catholic faithful these past 12 years. Pope Francis’ example of humility and simplicity, his constant call to seek peace, and his openness to all will forever remind us of our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, whom he mirrored in spirit and throughout his long and devoted life as a faithful layman, priest, bishop and pontiff.
In this, the Jubilee Year that the Holy Father inaugurated, may we honor Pope Francis and indeed be true ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ on our pilgrimage toward renewal and reconciliation. May we be constantly inspired by his pursuit of holiness, his warmth, humor, keen insights into the mysteries and traditions of our faith, and most especially, by his love for all without scorn and judgment.
We also humbly appeal to the Holy Spirit to now guide the cardinals of our church as they prepare to select the successor to Pope Francis. May their only motive be to choose one among them who is possessed with great holiness, compassion, wisdom and courage, and best suited to now lead our Church forward in this complex and difficult age.
Eternal rest grant unto your servant Francis, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in eternal peace.
Diocese honors parishioner Kathryn Dunford
Congratulations and blessings to Kathryn Dunford who received the Lay Award of Saint Joseph the Worker from Bishop Michael Fisher on Saturday, March 29, at St. Joseph’s Cathedral. The Diocese of Buffalo presents the award annually, acknowledging Catholic laymen and laywomen who have helped spread the Gospel throughout the eight counties of Western New York at the parish level. Conferral of the Lay Award of Saint Joseph the Worker celebrates the commitment of those active in parish communities.
This year, St. John’s had the opportunity of nominating Kathy as a candidate. Our parish is grateful for the many areas of service and commitment Kathy has shared furthering the mission of our community. She serves as a member of the Neumann Guild, Pastoral Council, and Alzheimer’s Respite. She is the secretary of our Pastoral Council, serves as lector at Mass, and has been a hospitality greeter. Kathy is supportive of parish activities and is present to assist and promote parish ministries in many capacities.
Blessings and appreciation to Kathy and all who so often share their talent and treasure for the good of St. John’s and God’s people.

Make Your Donation to St. John's Online
You can manage your giving to St. John the Baptist Parish ONLINE using a credit/debit card. It is easy and allows you to set up automatic recurring contributions. This will help your weekly offerings to continue on an uninterrupted basis when travel, illness, or other circumstances prevent you from attending Mass.
PLEASE NOTE:
If you sign up for a recurring donation, your weekly envelope mailing will be canceled (saving us the cost of these mailings is one of the many benefits of joining this program.) However, this change process submitted to our Envelope Supplier may take up to two to four months to take place. Therefore, you may still receive envelopes sent to your home for several months until the mailing cancellation has been processed.
If you are planning to use this program periodically to select Non-Recurring, Special Collections, or Specific Donations, you will still receive parish envelope packets mailed to your home. If you no longer wish to receive the Envelope Packet Mailing to your home, please call the Rectory Office at 716-873-1122 to cancel your envelopes.
